Our vision for Waterhall was to secure and relocate an operating poultry farm allowing this land and the adjoining disused sporting grounds to be rezoned and developed.
Our challenge was to create a high quality development which adopted new urbanism principles along the foreshore of the Helena River, including world-class stormwater management principles and an integrated landscape design sympathetic with the foreshore environment.
Our solution was to undertake significant soil decontamination in the area of the poultry farm along with implementing detailed construction and stormwater management to ensure the protection of the Helena River throughout the construction period.
Timeframe: 2005 to 2015
Size: 280 dwellings
Key Achievement: Design incorporated green space to retain all significant stands of trees, world’s best practice stormwater management and urban design to promote community focus.
Partnership: Joint venture between Domain Project Developments (of which Burke Urban are a 50% shareholder) and the Guildford Grammar Foundation
