Burke Urban 2020 Update: A Year in Review
While 2020 has been a challenging year in many ways for many people, the team at Burke Urban are thankful for the many accomplishments we have achieved this year and we look toward this coming year with excitement and positivity.
After winning two highly coveted awards for Newenham and launching Newbridge, our latest South Australian residential development, we were announced as development partner on the exciting Mount Barker Catalyst Project.
It’s been an amazing year and we’re proud to share a few of our highlights of 2020.
The award winning Newenham Estate.
Our benchmark residential estate located in the Adelaide Hills, Newenham, was awarded Best Residential Development for 2020 at the UDIA SA Awards. Viewed as one of South Australia’s most respected and highly regarded awards programs for the development industry, this award recognises the innovative efforts that have gone into creating a flourishing community that meets and upholds the demands of both residents and the wider community. Burke Urban also received the Marketing Excellence award, for innovation and excellence in marketing of the Newenham brand.
We’re absolutely delighted that the industry has recognised what our residents already know – that Newenham is a truly special place to live, focused on the health, happiness and wellbeing of all who choose to call it home, while sitting respectfully in the beautiful natural environment of the Adelaide Hills.
The delivery of some of Newenham’s key masterplan features.
The first offering in Newenham’s retail precinct has been delivered with an X Convenience store, offering Newenham residents and the wider Hills community with fuel, basic grocery items, barista made coffee, hot dogs, shakes and a selection of fresh foods.
Another major feature of the Newenham development, the Farm, has delivered its first stage of initial earthworks including fencing and garden beds. The development of the Farm will continue throughout 2021 with some exciting projects set to launch in Spring.
The linear park and shared pathway that follows the Western Flat Creel and leads into the heart of Mount Barker, was finalised and has been widely used and enjoyed by many in the Hills community.
Land sales throughout the year were also exceptionally strong with the assistance of the HomeBuilder grant, which resulted in all 221 allotments of the Stage 1 land release now sold. We have released the first allotments in Newenham’s Stage 2 land release, which offers some of the most exceptional opportunities at Newenham yet.
Throughout all of this, Newenham were proud to support CFS by donating $25,000 to local Adelaide Hills firefighting crews to purchase vital equipment to help them keep Hills residents safe.
The launch of Newbridge.
After years in the making the Burke Urban team launched a new residential development in the heart of Murray Bridge – Newbridge.
Located on the land of the former Murray Bridge Racing Club and adjacent to the Murray Bridge Golf Club, Newbridge will include up to 350 homes when complete.
Sitting alongside the town’s golf course, Newbridge will feature 2 new golf fairways extending through the heart of the project. With the inclusion of leafy street trees, water-wise plantings, tree-lined walking trails and active parks and reserves, Newbridge will be a magnificent green centrepiece for the vibrant regional city of Murray Bridge.
In true Burke Urban style, we have renovated the former administration building and turned it into a stunning Sales & Information Centre to showcase the beautiful development.
Since the launch in September, sales have been strong with over 50% of the first ever land release already under contract. Civil construction of Stage 1 is well under way after commencing the Stage 1 earthworks in November with titles expected by mid-2021.
Mount Barker Catalyst Project.
On top of these achievements, Burke Urban was also announced as the development partner for the Mount Barker Catalyst Project which will transform an under-utilised 12,000sqm site in the town’s centre into a hive of activity, delivering new community facilities and activation to the town square which will stimulate local and regional employment and investment, whilst creating remarkable places that can be enjoyed by the community.
With all this activity, the team has been very busy and we were thrilled to be able to employ two new staff members to assist us in delivering these projects into the future.
As for 2021 there are many things that Burke Urban are looking forward to, some of which are:
For Newenham:
– Release new allotments in the Stage 2 land release so more people can join the tight-knit community and build their dream home in the best residential development in SA.
– Work with builder partners to plan a new display village within the Stage 2 land release.
– Launch the Farm, market café and produce store.
– The Kings Baptist Grammar School will commence construction by mid-2021, in time to open for the 2023 school year.
For Newbridge:
– The golf fairways that extend through the heart of Newbridge will be completed.
– Launch the second release of land, which will include more coveted golf course allotments.
– Complete the construction of Stage 1.
– Assist the first Newbridge residents as they commence construction of their homes.
The Burke Urban team are very grateful for all that was achieved throughout 2020 and we look forward to the year ahead with excitement, energy and positivity as we continue to develop beautiful and enduring living environments, where communities are built, people thrive and lifestyles are enhanced.
